Several decades ago, this skilled pilot, Dr. Chuck Edgley, then of Stillwater, OK, carefully flew our college football 🏈 officiating crew round trip from Stillwater, OK, to Springfield, MO. Once he landed his aircraft, taxied to the terminal, parked the plane and shut the engines off, he gently turned to us from his cockpit seat, and carefully stated, “Well, we just beat death one more time.”, then smiled.
I have used Dr. Edgley’s informative quote many times over these many years this incredibly witty man uttered it to us.
RIP Dr. Chuck, you were the BEST!

During 1970, I taught Chuck how to fly airplanes. At that time I was enrolled at Seminole State College working my way thru college as a flight instructor. Chuck was a Professor of Humanities at Oklahoma Baptist University. I taught him about aviation, he taught me about humanity and life. It was a good trade. Many of his slogans are still with me. Over the years even though we lived in different states, countries and even hemispheres, we were in touch via mail, phone and most recently, e-mail. He was a great man that will be missed by many.
