Charles Francis Higdon's Obituary
Charles F. Higdon, 83, of Springdale, AR, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023, surrounded by family. In the days prior to his death, family was able to come spend time with him and share stories and laughter. He left this world ready and unafraid, enveloped by love, at Washington Regional Medical Center, where he volunteered for 17 years.
Charles was born on June 2, 1939, to Joseph “Miller” and Clara Higdon in Denver, CO. Years later, he met the love of his life, Kelly Bryce, in Russellville and they married on June 25, 1966, and had three children.
While anyone can acquire a “World’s Greatest Dad” mug or hat, Charles embodied that for his children, grandchildren, in-laws, siblings, and so many others. He knew how to fix anything, was a wealth of information, and was always ready to help where needed. He was humorous, smart, kind, strong, and sufficiently ornery, and he will be missed greatly and loved forever.
Charles is survived by his three children and their spouses: Andy and Amy Higdon of Waldorf, MD; Kris and Tamara Higdon of El Dorado; and Carol “Eli” and Beatriz Bonilla of Portland, OR; and his grandchildren: Emily Coody of Siloam Springs; Andrew Higdon of Fayetteville; and James Higdon of Waldorf, MD. He is forever loved by his siblings: Leo Higdon and Janet Higdon McElhaney; as well as countless other family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph “Miller” Higdon and Clara Higdon, his wife, Patricia Kelly Higdon, siblings Arlene Bucholdt, Laverne Davis, Raymond Higdon, and Bernard “Bernie” Higdon.
Services will be held at Church of the Assumption in Atkins on Wednesday, May 17, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
