Charles Richard Bickford's Obituary
Charles R. Bickford, of Springdale, passed away on January 9, 2017 at 78 years old. Born in Gravette, Arkansas on October 27, 1938, to Nathan Ricker and Naomi Elizabeth Wood Bickford. He attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Business College, and the New York Institute of Photography. He was Chief Photographer of the Morning News and the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He photographed people, athletic events, weddings and the beautiful scenery of the Ozarks and beyond. He was passionate about capturing the handiwork of God's creation, which many of his photographs display. He loved the Lord with all of his heart, was a member of Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas, where he taught Sunday School and served in various capacities, he was also a member of the Lion's Club. Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years Joyce Bickford; his son Robert Bickford and wife Barbara of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter Sherrie Le Crone and husband Matt of Houston, Texas; sister Rosemary Lowry of Newton, Kansas; brothers Don Bickford of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Malcolm Bickford of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 3 grandchildren, Alex, Emily and Olivia, 2 Great-Grandchildren, Nate and Alistair, and many other family and friends. Charles and Joyce love and are grateful for his caregivers, Jennifer Palma, and Zahara Wardwell. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 AM at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas with interment to follow at 2:00 PM at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Arkansas under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made in Charles' name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's at www.michaeljfox.org or P.O.
