Charles was our staff photographer when I was sports editor at the Springdale News. He made our sports pages "jump" and grab readers with his amazing visual storytelling, especially when we covered the Razorbacks. Kind and a gentleman only begin to describe him. He taught me so much without uttering a word. To his family, the peace of God be with you.
Charles was a very kind and thoughtful man. He was always quick to laugh (especially if Morris White was close) or to encourage you. He had a very gentle spirit. I loved to hear him talk about his younger days in Springdale when he and my dad would skip school to go fishing! He was a great guy.
Sweet Joyce, so sorry to hear this news! From the time I began working for you and Charles, I was treated like family, and what a Godly example you both were! He was such a precious man and I know he'll be dearly missed. All my best to you, the kids and their families. Love, Mel
Thought and prayers to the family. I worked with Mr. Bickford back in the 1990s at The Morning News. He was a sweet man and an awesome photographer.
