i had the honor of being Dr. Tompkins secretary of Community Planning at the U of A. he was a kind man. of few words. only once did he roll his eyes at me, when i had the radio cranked up and was smoking a cigarette. lol. that look was all it took. i snubbed out the cig and turned it down. just now reading his obit we had so much in common i never knew about. he was focused on teaching his handful of students to make the world a friendly, safe, functional eco-system for generations to follow. i still think about him. condolences to the family.
