Cheryl A. Boudreaux's Obituary
CHERYL ANN (Cherie) LEGATSKI BOUDREAUX Cherie Boudreaux, age 63, of Fayetteville, died July 14th at her home in Fayetteville. She was born, March 11, 1945 in Queens, New York, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Ted Legatski of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was raised in Bartlesville where she graduated from College High School in 1963. In 1966, she graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She is survived by her husband, Ray, and three sons, J. David and wife, Melissa of Madison, Alabama, Stephen M. and wife, Melissa, of Lowell, Arkansas and Matthew A. and wife, Wendy, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Mason, Nathan, Rachel, Madison, Emma, Ray, and Savanna and a brother, Ted Legatski, and wife Marlene of Fort Worth, Texas. For twenty-five years she served beside her husband in the United States Air Force, stationed at twelve bases across the country. Following their retirement from the Air Force, they lived twelve years in Rantoul, Illinois and then settled in Fayetteville. Cherie gave freely of her artistic talents to her church, community, and numerous organizations where she volunteered. She designed a city mural, organized volunteers and led the effort for the City Hall in Lebanon, Illinois where citizens painted individual squares of the design to make the total work. She designed theater sets for community theaters in most communities where she lived, she heralded events with her artwork all over the country and was instrumental in laying the groundwork and developing the historical and interactive displays in the Rantoul Illinois Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum; culminating in her receiving the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award in 2000 for outstanding volunteer leadership by the Illinois Humanities Council. She was an active member and Corresponding Secretary of the BH Arkansas chapter of PEO and was a selfless caregiver to neighbors, community, church, and others; but especially to her family. She was a shining example of what a Mother and Wife should be, always caring, loving and fun. She cared more for the wellbeing of others than she did for herself. At her passing she was surrounded by her family who will greatly miss and always love her. There will be a celebration of her life at Sequoyah United Methodist Church at 2 PM on Friday, July 18, 2008. Cherie’s family will receive family, friends, and guests after her memorial service.
