Cherylle "Sue" Suzanne Harder's Obituary
Cheryll Suzanne "Sue" Harder, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 75 years old. She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on November 8, 1948, to Eldon Leonard and Mary Aelene (Johnston) Stroburg. She was preceded in death by her mother and her sister Monica Tvinnereim.
Sue, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend to so many leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, brilliance and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. She was truly the best of us, and though she lived an amazing life, is taken from us too soon.
She had a curious, intellectual mind that gave her a wealth of knowledge and passion. She was an avid reader, especially of fantasy, often getting lost in the adventure and imagination of the wondrous worlds of her favorite books. Astrology fascinated her, and she would spend hours deciphering charts to see what secrets the stars held for the people in her life. The vastness of space and the mysteries within captivated her, and she loved diving deep into complex topics of the physical sciences, always intrigued by what makes the universe tick.
She stayed grounded though, and loved real-life adventure just as much as those found in her books. She filled many years with campouts and float trips, enjoying the beauty of nature and the joy of spending time with her loved ones, listening to great music around a campfire in the woods, singing and laughing with those closest to her.
Sue had both the beauty, inside & out, and the brains. In 1966, she won the crown of Miss Iowa State Fair Queen, but beyond the title, she possessed an inner radiance that drew people to her. Professionally she excelled in bookkeeping, building years of experience across multiple organizations, ultimately managing the books for and being instrumental in the success of the family business, Four Seasons Cleaners and Laundry.
Best of all though was the love she held for those in her life and the impact she had on them; a list that spreads far & wide and is much too large to quantify. Her laughter was contagious, her passion was infectious. Whether sharing a silly joke or engaging in spirited debate, she loved nothing more than meaningful bonding with others. Gathered around the table with loved ones, she relished these moments– the warmth of connection, the joy of shared stories. She was kind, and her welcoming smile put everyone at ease.
She will be so greatly missed.
Sue is survived by her husband Bill Harder; sons Matt Popalisky & wife Catherine, and Dustin Harder & wife Chrissy; father Eldon Stroburg; brother Jeff Stroburg & wife Nancy; sister Peggy Stroburg; and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at a later date.
