uncle Garland was truly a fun uncle. He made us laugh with his jokes and riddles.A good man who loved to fish, and he cooked what he caught. Garland worked hard, and was the fastest strawberry picker around these parts. As a child I liked to tease him by calling him uncle "Garlic" he just laughed. His family will miss him,but now he will be fishing in the " Big Pond". Bye- for now, Garland.
He was truly one of the last pioneers and was an Icon in so many ways. I used to sit for hours and watch him take an old piece of wood and carve it into a very beautiful sculpture. He was a fisherman of the old ways and of the old days with his cane pole. I feel that we just not only lost an uncle but we also lost a part of history that helped in so many ways to carve out the trails that has lead us to where we are today.
Now it is time for him to take his rest that is long overdue and to take his rightful place next to grandma & grandpa.
I'll not say goodbye to him instead I'll see you on the other side uncle Garland
