I only found out today about my cousin Chet's passing and my heart has been filled with sadness at the loss of this sweet, good, and kind man. My Mom, Shirley Hayes Bauer expressed her sadness at Chet's passing, and remembered what a wonderful man he was. We send our sincerest condolences to his wife Jan and their daughters.

I had only met Mr. Hayes a short time ago and was impressed with his honesty and friendliness. He was one of those men that you could call a friend. Wish I could have known him longer.

We have many fond memories of Chet and will always treasure his friendship. He was a thoughtful and generous host when we visited the Hayes at various places. We met Chet in 1980 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL and remained friends over the miles and the years.
