Clifford E Thornsberry's Obituary
Clifford Thornsberry, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. Born in Winslow, Arkansas on August 31, 1939, Clifford was the son of John and Leona Goldsborough Thornsberry.
Clifford proudly served his country during the Vietnam era, stationed in Alaska, where he forged enduring friendships and carried a quiet sense of duty throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated three decades to the Arkansas State Highway Department, retiring after 36 years of committed public service. His work helped shape the roads that connect communities across the state, and his legacy lives on in every mile.
A man of deep faith, Clifford was a devoted member of Bunyard Community Church, where he found fellowship and purpose. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Inez Thornsberry, who passed in 2013. Their bond was one of enduring love and quiet strength.
Clifford is survived by his godson, Richard Buss, of West Fork, AR; two sisters, Betty Houy of Fayetteville, AR, and Evelyn Harrison of West Fork, AR; his lifelong friend, Jack McLaughlin of West Fork, AR; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Clifford will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife at Freedom Cemetery, a final resting place that reflects the peace and simplicity he valued in life.
