It is with great sadness that the family of Colonel Bobby King Helton announces his passing on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the age of 85. Bob was born in Canadian, Texas on September 27, 1934 to Thomas and Alice Bell Helton of Read Obituary
Colonel Helton was one of the finest Army Officers I had the privilege of serving with. Highest integrity, a model military officer. He was a role model and set high standard for me and many others to strive to emulate. I will not made it to his high level. God rest his soul. Heaven will be a better place now with Colonel Helton.
Colonel Bob Helton and I served in Vietnam at the same time, he in Hue and me in Da Nang. We saw each other frequently. I wrote a memoir about my experiences, and if there is a hero in the book it is Captain Bobby K. Helton. You'll find a copy of the book among Bobby's possessions. After many years of not seeing him, he and his dear wife showed up at the Army Medical Museum at Fort Sam Houston for a book presentation and signing. It touched me deeply that he was willing to make the journey while suffering from Parkinson's. I will miss him greatly, Jim Van Straten
Bobby Helton was a gentleman and a friend. He spent the last years of his life at Arkanshire Holiday Retirement, where he will be deeply missed. He gave me a great compliment when he said he and I were “cut from the same cloth.”

I was privileged to know both he and your mom when I was a student at Kansas State University. With the few meals I shared in their company, I knew right away what a lovely family you came from.
Men like your dad set the example of what devotion and honor meant. Especially to his children and your beloved mother.
While we always mourn the departure of those we love most, it is never to be forgotten that life continues in a paradise prepared for all faithful souls. We know that your mom and dad are truly united once again.
May you, and your children remember the happiest of times with Bob and Lavada, and pray in thanksgiving for the love they brought you during their lives.
