Craig Alan Schmidt's Obituary
Craig Alan Schmidt, 72, passed March 21, 2025 at Apple Creek Health and Rehab in Centerton, Arkansas where he had resided since May 2021. He was born January 1, 1953 in Yankton, South Dakota to Reuben Schmidt and Peggy Sondergaard Schmidt.
Craig moved to Bentonville in 1981 from Canon City, Colorado. He worked at CJ’s Supper Club in Bella Vista, then Krispy Kitchens in Bentonville and retired from FM Corp. in Rogers in 2017.
Craig was a survivor. He struggled with many physical and mental challenges over the course of his lifetime, but he always persevered. The happiest days of his life were after he reunited with his mother. They lived in Bentonville, until she passed in 2001.
Craig attended Bentonville First Assembly of God Church and later, New Hope Assembly in Rogers for over 35 years. His favorite pastimes were watching Little House on the Prairie and doing word search puzzles with brightly colored highlighters.
He had a joyful, childlike spirit and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. He especially loved the energy and laughter of children, which always brought a big smile to his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his early life caretakers, Richard and Agnes (Tonty) Stern.
Craig is survived by brother, Lenny and wife, Peggy of Logan, Iowa; aunt and uncle, Judy and Cliff Sutton of Flandreau, South Dakota; several cousins; and longtime friends, Pam Childers and her family.
Interment will be in Bentonville Cemetery by his mother.
