Rev'd Daniel L. Erdman's Obituary
The Rev’d Daniel L. Erdman, faithful priest, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died December 28, 2023 in Rogers, Arkansas.
Fr. Erdman is survived by his three sons and their families. Nathan, and his wife Rachel, and grandchildren: Robin and Natalie. Jonathan, and his wife Andrea, and grandchildren: Sarah, Joseph, Gabriel, Naomi, and Joshua. Joel, his wife Christina, and grandchildren: Cambry, Ashlyn, and Millie.
He was born on November 5, 1944 the son of Marlin H. Erdman and Mabel Still Erdman in York Pennsylvania. A graduate of Wheaton College (A.B. with honors, 1968), and Yale University (M.A. in Religion, 1971 and M. Div. 1973), he was ordained a Deacon June 8, 1973 and Priest on December 15, 1973.
A priest for 50 years, Fr. Erdman served eight churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, the Diocese of Missouri, the Diocese of West Missouri, and the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan.
Fr. Erdman, and his late wife Susan, passed on the gift of deep faith in Jesus Christ to their children. Nathan and Jonathan are ordained priests, and Joel is an active leader at his parish of St. Theodore’s. His life was devoted to making the mercy and love of God known and proclaiming the Gospel of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was an avid reader, lover of music and opera, and took great joy in his family including his dogs.
The Holy Eucharist and Burial will be on Jan. 20 at 11am at St Theodore’s Episcopal Church (1001 Kingsland Road, Bella Vista, AR, 72714).
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord; And let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
