I met John and Darla some 25 years ago when he hired me to build a desk, an office and a covered porch. Later, Darla asked me to build her house and do some remodeling elsewhere. She was a wonderful woman and I am glad I knew her. -- John R. Concoby
I am a cousin of darla's on her uncle's side. I only got to meet her in person once when she invited my mother and I to share in a passover. She was sweet, loving and generous. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Darla had many dear friends in Fayetteville over several decades; I was privileged to be welcomed by her as a "recent" friend, since moving here in 2006. We bonded quickly and remained so throughout, through the deaths of our spouses, and as recently as a few weeks ago on a drive to and from Chabad. We served together for many years on the Board of Temple Shalom and on the Finance Committee, with a great deal of mutual respect and appreciation. She was an eclectic and independent spirit; among many other combinations of traits, I think she would enjoy being referred to as a fiscally conservative old hippie. Of course, there was much more to her, especially love of family, community, and Judaism. I will miss her.

I met Darla many years ago when working at Mothers Morning Out when her children attended there. I will always remember Darla as she appears in this photo. Upbeat and positive. Loved to watch her dance at Georges and other gatherings with the community. I will miss you Darla, love gina

What a force Darla was! I so appreciated her friendship, her energy, and her views on things. A wallflower she was not, and she willingly shared her opinions. She introduced me to OLLI, WAC volunteering, canning, line dancing, Israeli dancing, and contra dancing. She spoke fondly of her family history and her past professional experiences. She was a generous and compassionate person, sharing activities at the temple, volunteering together, dancing at the Senior Activities Center and participating in Rosen movement classes.
