I knew Darren and Debra when they were elementary kids at Butterfield Trail Elementary. Their mom was an aide and I was the music teacher there. Though I lost contact with Darren after they were grown, Debra and I would see one another off and on and she would catch me up on Darren's career. I also heard others who attended many of the clubs where Darren's band played, speak of Darren with great enthusiasm as he and his band matured and grew in popularity. Early on in his career, his big sister, Debra would often voice concern over his welfare in pursuing a "rock musician's life". That's what we big sisters do! But I also know there was great love in that family and that carried all of them through Darren's battle with cancer. Thanks be to God for that love that Darren always shared with his family and his friends. May he rest in peace.
