David "Skip" MacGregor Lawrence Jr.'s Obituary
This obituary was loving written by David M. Lawrence Sr. about his son, Skip.
It is with great sorrow that I announce my Precious Son, a Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew and Friend, David MacGregor Lawrence Jr, born June 30th, 1996, has joined his mother, Connie Lynn in Heaven. The Lord called him home at the age of 27 on November the 15th, 2023. He is survived by his sister, Arielle, and brothers Nic and Ben.
David, or “Skip” as he was known to family, was most everyone’s big ‘Teddy Bear.’ A kind and gentle soul who would give you the shirt off his back if it meant that you would be comforted.
Helping others with a servant’s heart was his true calling, and he refined that calling in the last few years of his life. He was the friend who showed up at your door with gas money and groceries. He was a fierce and formidable protector of those he cared about, especially female friends and children, and would go to the mat for any of them if needed.
Testimonials from his many friends and adoring family members since his death bear this out. I was mostly unaware of his kind acts, which tells me that he was a true giver.
My son was a Beautiful Soul and an Unsung Hero to so many.
He was an avid Arkansas Razorback Fan, and could name most of the players on the Big 3 teams, where they came from, and what their attributes were. He took much pleasure in watching games with me and his Aunt Sharon. We would ‘Belly-Bump’ after every big play, hugging and delighting in every Hog victory.
He had a vast knowledge of current events, politics, pop culture, science and more. He was well spoken and articulate on a myriad of subjects. He never ceased to amaze me with his grasp and interesting perspective on the news of the day.
Skip went through some tough times for several years (self-inflicted as he honestly admitted) after losing his mother at the tender age of 17, but came back a better and stronger man. He was a Lovable, Prince of a guy, and we sorely miss him.
If Skip could have his say right now, he’d ask that the only contribution necessary would be to give your family a big Hug and Kiss, holding them with Tender Loving Care, because you never know when it might be your last chance.
We always said “I love You” when we parted ways, and those were indeed our last words to each other on the night before his passing, which I take great comfort in.
Thank you to every family member and friend who has reached out with such warm Love, Kindness, and Prayer. You’ve been a great source of strength and comfort.
