David Whittington's Obituary
David Whittington, PhD, 53, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in Fayetteville. He was born in Berea, Ohio, the son of Richard Murphy and Eileen (Cooney) Whittington. He attended Fairwood ES, Berea, Ohio, Woodbury JHS and Shaker Heights High School, Shaker Heights, Ohio; he received his BS, in Geology at the University of North Carolina in 1977, his MSc, in Geology from the University of Alabama in 1982, and his PhD, in Geology at Florida State University in 1988. He worked in the area of Industrial Health Safety at the VA Medical Center here in Fayetteville and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Dr. Richard M. and Joan Lewis Whittington of Gainesville, FL, one brother, Dr. Richard Whittington of Media, PA, three sisters, Anne E. Whittington of San Diego, CA, Kathryn W. Enchelmayer of Chapel Hill, NC, Linda L. Ferguson of Port Orange, FL, three nephews, Richard C. Whittington and Daniel J. Whittington both of Media, PA, John I. Ferguson of Port Orange, FL, and two nieces, Sarah A. Whittington of Zachary, LA, Emma B. Ferguson of Port Orange, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen C. Whittington. A rosary service in memory of Dr. Whittington will be held at 4:30 on Monday, September 8th, at St. Thomas Aquinas University Church.
