Dawn Marlene Metzer's Obituary
Dawn Marlene Metzer, beloved wife, Mom, Grandma, sister, and friend, passed away on June 14, 2024, in Rogers, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was born on November 1, 1942, in Brook Park, Minnesota, to the late H. Earl and Dorothy Butler Davis.
Dawn was known for her kindness, generosity, and zest for life. She found joy in the simple pleasures - reading a book, hitting the golf course, bowling with friends, crocheting afghans, tackling challenging puzzles, and vintage Disney movies. Her greatest source of happiness, though, came from spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her adored children and grandchildren, who brought endless laughter and warmth to her life, as well as with precious family pets, like Lucy and Bailey.
In addition to her passion for family and hobbies, Dawn had a profound love for her husband, Gene Metzer, with whom she shared countless cherished moments and adventures. Together, they created a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another, beginning in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they raised their children, and later as they settled in Arkansas. The couple enjoyed summers in Minnesota, by the lake in their fifth wheel camper, which Dawn affectionately dubbed "the COW", short for Cabin On Wheels.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Butler Davis, and her beloved brother, Johnny. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene and their three children: Shelby Lanning (Eric) of Crystal, MN and twins, Tim Metzer of Lake Forest, CA and Todd Metzer (Nancy) of South Riding, VA; and her grandchildren: five grandsons and four granddaughters, which includes two step granddaughters and a (step)great granddaughter. Dawn is also survived by her brothers: Richard, Glen, and Duane; her sisters: Denise Harris, Susan Flournoy, and Beth Forquer; and many nieces and nephews.
Dawn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and forever cherished.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Rogers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Her memorial service will be announced at a later date, to be held in Garrison, Minnesota.
