Dell Christy Tyson's Obituary
DELL CHRISTY TYSON, 76, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away, April 17, 2016. Dell, known as Grana by her grandchildren, was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a bachelors degree in nursing, two masters' degrees and countless hours in continuing education that she put to use as a marriage and family therapist and play therapist. She co-founded two counseling centers, Christian Family Counseling Center in Lawton, Oklahoma and Fresh Roots in Rogers. She also focused her boundless energy into all kinds of other activities: American Christian Teen Singers, community tennis leagues, numerous church activities, photographing nature and her family, and painting anything and everything. She loved to travel and had particular passion for visiting every Arkansas State Park and champion tree with her friend, Anita, and going on bike trips with her family all over the United States and other countries. She would whip up a pot of soup in no time and could be counted on by grandchildren to have Tic Tacs in her purse. Dell knew she was loved by God and took the use of her God-given talents seriously. She allowed God to lead her life and it showed in her actions and words. She told her family she would die with no regrets and she died as she lived, making the most of what she had. Her prayer was that we would each live as God created us to be. Ephesians 3:14-19. We are deeply grateful for the family and friends who supported Dell and Alan as they faced life with Corticobasal Degeneration. Diagnosed in June 2014 and with a steady decline in physical functioning, Dell's desire to live at home and live purposefully was supported by the selfless and creative ways in which care was shown. In her death, Dell hoped to provide support for the efforts to cure CBD by donating her brain to the Mayo Clinic. She was born January 10, 1940 in Bay City, Texas to Royce Altus and Doris Newburn Christy and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Chester Douglas Christy. Dell is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alan Tyson; one son, Paul Tyson and wife, Jane of Orlando, Fl; one daughter, Deborah Tyson of Nashville, TN; sister, Sara Lou Manning and husband Mike of Avoca, AR; six grandchildren, Kristen Kate Daughtery and husband Josh, Nathan Olmstead, Charles Chase Alan Tyson II, Finley Tyson, Anna Eiring, Owen Tyson, one great granddaughter, Lily Daugherty and her precious nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. In memory of Dell, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice at nwacircleoflife.com or BreakThrough Seminar at heartconnexion.org. Dell is laid to rest at Benton County Memorial Park near family members.
