Della Mae Conner's Obituary
Della Mae Conner, 96, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away January 14, 2007 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born August 19, 1910 in Cleveland, Tennessee the daughter of Jacob and Bertha Ramsey Smith. She attended Bradley County High School where she was known as an outstanding Basketball player and athlete. She graduated in 1928 and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she attended and graduated from business college. She joined the Second Methodist Church in 1928 and was an active member until her death.
During her lifetime she worked for the Knoxville Glass Company, the Knoxville Cadillac/Lasalle Dealer, Standard Knitting Mills during the war years and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Her Last Job was as a secretary/accountant with the firm of Fouler-Rowntree in Knoxville where she retired in 1983.
In October of 1931, she married M. O'Dell Conner of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1991. She leaves two children, M. O'Dell Conner Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia and Gary E. Conner of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and on grandchild; Michael David Conner of Georgia.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee, with Rev. M.C. Taylor officiating.
