Donald "Donnie" Hernandez's Obituary
Donald “Donnie” Hernandez, age 49, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He was born on May 24, 1970, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Apolonio and Bertha (Armonta) Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Paul David and Geno.
Although born in Altus, OK he’d call Fayetteville, AR home. After graduating from Uptown, he spent most of his working time at Mexican Original then Campbell Soup; until he found the job he loved, Hiland Dairy. He was a truck driver for Hiland Dairy for several years, he loved working there and everyone who worked with him. He loved dogs, later in life he’d end up being a part of the Pitbull Ambassadors organization here in NWA. He was larger than life, the life of the party. He was a father to so many who weren’t his- he took on so many roles from dad to uncle to best friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (Cook) Hernandez of the home; his three children, Anthony Karloski, Quartney Dash, and Kenndra Karloski; his three step-children, Michelle Long, Payton Samuels, Matthew McClintock and kids too many to mention here that called him “Popz”; his six grandchildren, Evey, Nadzieja, Luca’Brasi, Autumn, Aiden, Elliot; his three brothers, Apolonio “Chico” Hernandez, Paul Hernandez Jr., Arturo “Art” Hernandez; his nine sisters, Marian Torres, Margaret Fitzgerald, Lupe Davis, Pamela Copeland, Mona Vela, Ebby Hernandez, Lucy Rodruiguez, Tina Hernandez and Lucinda Hernandez; and he is also survived by many, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, not to mention many friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00pm on Thursday, June 27, 2019, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in care of Donnie mailed to P.O. Box 8982, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
