I had the honor of working along side Donna at Butterfield Trail Elementary School for a few years before she retired and enjoyed the blessing of having her teach my two oldest children as their second grade teacher. Her care of and joy for the students in her class made the classroom a warm and exciting place for my kiddos. Ms. Modica, as she was always known in our family, retired the year my youngest child finished first grade. I jokingly tried to convince her to stay for one more year to teach one more Crouch girl, but was so happy for her to have more time for her life and family. Donna made our family's world a better place and she is fondly remembered.

My condolences to family and friends. I knew Donna as a fellow teacher with Fayetteville Schools. I was acquainted with her through professional and social activities. What a fun, encouraging, and compassionate person! She just had a way of making those around her feel better.

I first met Donna in college as Donna Brewer.
Then I was fortunate enough to team teach 1st grade with her at Butterfield in the early 90's. She was a wonderful teacher and co-worker. She also was my son's 2nd grade teacher.
Brittany and Grayson I remember you as young children and how devoted she was to you!
My thoughts and prayers go out to all who loved her.

I was so fortunate to work with Donna. She was such a kind, helpful, fun loving person. She was loved by her students and all of us at Butterfield. People were always stopping by her classroom when they had a free moment to chat with her. She had a way of making people feel better about life’s little problems. I remember such fun times with her. Donna would lead her 2nd grade team to Joey’s office when we had a problem and we would make the “ see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil “ faces through the window. She always had a way of making you laugh. She will be greatly missed. ❤️
