Dorothy 'Teach' Haugen

Mrs. Dorothy Haugen was my favorite teacher ever. I was very fortunate and blessed to have her as my Mathematics teacher in fourth and fifth and ninth grade. Mrs.Hayden was an amazing teacher and very nice and very professional. Thanks in large part to her, I completed 2 bachelors degrees in Mathematics in college. I checked with a lady at the funeral home, who said that she lived to be 93, so that’s good, compared to many people. My best wishes and condolences to her family and friends in Burlington, Iowa and elsewhere.

Dorothy was a very special lady who always had kind things to say, was so kind to others and she will be remembered for the love she had for family, grandchildren and friends.

As a young girl growing up in Burlington, Iowa, I often saw "Teach" at Mary Lou's or at "the Club." I marvelled at the wonderful relationship she had with her daughters and always found her to be fun and engaging. She was one of those wonderful ladies that made me want to be like her when I grew up. She always seemed to be a strong, yet fun-loving, woman. I saw those same qualities in Mary Lou. I know she will be sorely missed by her loving family and I extend my thoughts and prayers to all of you. Love, Mary
