It was an honor and a blessing to know Duane and I will always have fond memories of the times we got together. My prayers are with you all.
I left Vietnam in January 1970. A few months later, I received a letter from Tubby stating that a rocket had hit our Wolfpack tent and we lost four of our soldiers. That was the last I heard from anyone until 1988. At this time I received a phone call from Tubby saying "Angie (my nickname in Vietnam), I have been looking for you for 20 years.. It sent chills through my body. Since then we have all become close friends. You see, Tubby was my gunner when our helicopter was shot down in Vietnam on Thanksgiving Day 1969. Every Thanksgiving we think about that horrible nightmare. I was lucky enough to have Tubby and Debbie visit me in California three years ago and also go on an Alaskan cruise with them in 2012 to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Tubby, I love you brother and I miss you! I will never forget you and we will stay close to Debbie.
