Dwight Jonanon Whinery's Obituary
Dwight Jonanon Whinery, age 78, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born August 25, 1939 in Neshoba County Mississippi, the son of James "Clifford" and Prudy "Aletha" Whinery. He was preceded in death by parents, sister Ouida, and brothers Ezra and Norbert. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Mississippi National Guard. He worked as barber, and was certified in Radiological Monitoring. He retired from the United Stated Department of Agriculture and worked as a blueberry farmer. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn, his two daughters, Amye (Hill) of Calhoun City, Mississippi and Karen (Branscomb) of Cleveland, Ohio, three grandchildren, Noah Hill, Caroline Branscomb, and Cora Martin; three stepsons, Anthony, Michael, and Jason Boler, and nine nieces and nephews. He is remembered for his realistic, yet optimistic outlook on life, his songs, stories, and affinity for "telling it like it is." He enjoyed the outdoors and leaves behind an extensive collection of deer horns. Among family members, he is remembered by many as a "favorite" cousin, uncle, and friend.Cremation is under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. His final wishes were to be remembered as he was in life rather than viewed in death.
