Earl Ballard Riddick's Obituary
Earl Ballard Riddick, Jr. 77, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 in Fayetteville. He was the son of the late Earl B. Riddick and Clara Lou Aron Riddick. He was a member of University Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
He was born in Harlingen, TX on October 5, 1934 and grew up in Clinton, AR. After graduating from high school he attended the x-ray technologist training program at the University of Arkansas Medical School and worked for a year in Idabel, OK. in 1954 he joined the Army for three years obtaining the rank of E-5. He then attended college at ASTC (UCA) in Conway where he graduated with a BS degree in Chemistry and Mathematics before going to graduate school at the University of Arkansas Graduate Institute of Technology. He taught chemistry at ASTC for two years then entered medical school at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Campus. Following graduation he did a residency in Radiology at UAMSC. He retired from Northwest Arkansas Radiology Associates after seventeen years and did Locum Tenens for four years before joining the staff at Fayetteville VA Hospital in 1994. He retired from there in 1999.
He was past president of the Washington County Medical Society and of the Washington Counter Cancer Society. He was a diplomat of the American College of Radiology and the American College of Nuclear Medicine. He had an interest in Archeology and for several years was an Adjunct Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Arkansas. He was a life master in bridge.
In 1964 he was lucky enough to be accepted in marriage by Kathlyn (Kathy) Ramsey. He loved her very much and they had a happy life.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Albert Riddick.
He is survived by his wife Kathlyn Ann Ramsey and seven godchildren.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Dr. H.D. McCarty officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service for all attendees in the church Fellowship Hall.
