Edna Margaret Smith Smart's Obituary
Edna Margaret Smith Smart of League City, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in League City, Texas at the age of 100.
She was born on February 20, 1924, in Lowell, Arkansas to Archibald Morris Smith and Ida Barnes Smith.
Edna loved to cook and although she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager, considered herself to be first and foremost a mother to her children and wife to her husband. She was a lifelong member of the Southern Baptist church and attended University Baptist Church during her 41 years in Fayetteville.
Edna attended business college in Tulsa, Oklahoma, married and moved to California with her husband Grant where they lived for over 20 years prior to returning to Northwest Arkansas, which she always considered home. In 2012 Edna moved to League City, Texas to be near her children, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Grant, her husband of 53 years, parents Archibald and Ida Smith, and her seven siblings, Earl Smith, Geneva Ward, Melvin Smith, Maxine Roberts, Helen Hall, Gerald Smith, and Dale Smith.
She is survived by her son Randall Smart, daughter Luanne Lamont, daughter-in-law Rosa Lee Smart, granddaughter Brittany Hall, Brittany’s husband Ryan Hall, and her great-grand children Kaitlyn, Wesley, and Elizabeth Hall.
There will be a graveside service at Fairview Memorial Gardens on November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
The family requests donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
