Edward Maurice Holcombe's Obituary
Edward Maurice Holcombe, age 90, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a resident at the Fayetteville Veterans Home and was in the care of Elite Hospice. He was born May 15, 1934, in Montevallo, Alabama being the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Hoyt Holcombe and Idalee Moody Holcombe; four sisters and two brothers. He was a retired paint chemist for Guardsman Chemical Company and a U.S. Army veteran.
Ed was a family man, not only to his wife and daughters, his son-in-law and his granddaughter, but to his family and friends out of State. He was always traveling to Alabama, checking on his mother, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins in Alabama. He would stop when enroute to or from Alabama checking on his Mississippi family members. He loved traveling the United States, going to the Florida panhandle to the beach, gardening and fishing. He lived in Little Rock, Arkansas for 43 years before joining his daughters, son-in-law and granddaughter in Fayetteville, Arkansas in the Spring of 2013.
Ed is survived by his Fayetteville, Arkansas family: his wife, Lois Elizabeth West Holcombe of sixty-five years; his daughter, Sharron K. Teague and son-in-law Lewis R. Teague and their daughter Marie S. Teague; daughter Paula D. Holcombe; niece M. Charlotte Holcombe; his sister, Becky Holcombe Bolton of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; niece, Nita Gibson of Yazoo City, Mississippi; nephew, Wilfred Collins of Montevallo, Alabama; and many beloved nieces, nephews and family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
