Dr Lawrence Edward Guinn's Obituary
Dr. Lawrence Edward Guinn, 76 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born August 22, 1930 in Jacksonville, TX to W.A. Guinn and Gladys (Clements) Guinn.
He attended the University of Arkansas earning a B.A in Music and a M.A. in English, and also attended the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his PhD in Germanic Philology. Dr. Guinn was a Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Arkansas and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife Karen Hodges, two daughters, Gwyneth Guinn Jelinek and husband Michael of Fayetteville, AR, Deborah Guinn of Kingsland, TX, two sons, Stephen Guinn of Fayetteville, AR, William S. Horton of Chicago, IL, one grandson, Grant Guinn of Fayetteville, and one granddaughter, Cherie Guinn of Fayetteville, AR.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, February 12, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Lowell Grisham officiating. Private burial services will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
Memorials may be made to the rhetoric/composition/ literacy program through the English Department at the University of Arkansas 331 Kimpel Hall 208 McIlroy Street Fayetteville, AR 72701.
