Edwin Ewing Nesbitt's Obituary
Edwin Ewing Nesbitt passed peacefully and with grace on May 2nd, 2025, surrounded by those he loved. Born to Mary and William in Little Rock on May 1, 1946, Ed graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1965. Along with one of the largest graduating classes ever seen by the school and as a proud member of the marching band. He then went on to attend the University of Arkansas after moving to Fayetteville in the Fall of '65.
A man of many talents and careers, Ed worked as a manager and chef at the original Restaurant on the Corner and The Grill, served as Director of Film at the UARK, worked as a carpenter, helped with the construction of Bell Engineering Building on the UofA campus, and ultimately spent 30 years with the USPS before retiring in 2016.
He had a profound love for family and the simple joys of life: Cardinals baseball, backgammon, KUAF radio, history, black coffee, dancing, the music of Greasy Greens, the Cate Brothers, and—above all—jazz. He had a sharp wit and a gift for making people laugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue, and their children, Jennifer and Sam; his grandchildren, Margeaux and Miles; his nephew Matt Nesbitt, nieces Debbie and Kathy, cousins Barbara Ann Kemp, Ewing Cline, and other first cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his brother William.
Ed will be dearly missed by family as well as a wide and eclectic circle of hippies, beatniks, and the many denizens of Dickson Street of old. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
