Eleanor Prescott Bell's Obituary
Eleanor Prescott Bell, a beacon of love, service, and kindness, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on June 13, 1943, in Lowell, Massachusetts, just outside Boston, and was the youngest of six children. From an early age, Eleanor displayed the compassion, strength, and selflessness that would define her life.
Eleanor lived a life rooted in dedication and service. She proudly served in the United States military, reflecting her deep commitment to her country and the values she held dear. Following her military service, she began a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service, where she worked for more than 30 years. Her career culminated in her role as Postmaster of the El Paso, Arkansas post office. Known for her warm smile, kind spirit, and unwavering work ethic, Eleanor made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
On August 28, 1964, Eleanor married Harold Arthur Prescott in Seabrook, New Hampshire. Together they began their life in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their daughter, Heidi. The family later moved to Wheeling, Illinois, where their son, Harold Jr., was born. In 1970, they relocated to Vilonia, Arkansas, where they established deep roots in the community. Following Harold’s passing in 1979, Eleanor remained in Vilonia, devoted to raising her children and building a life centered on faith, family, and community.
On July 4, 1980, Eleanor married Benny Wayne Bell, beginning a loving partnership that would span 45 years until Benny’s passing in December 2025. In May 1981, they welcomed their son, Wayne Jr. Together, Eleanor and Benny created a home filled with love, laughter, hospitality, and compassion for both people and animals. Their home was always open to family, friends, and the many beloved pets they cared for over the years.
Eleanor was a devoted mother whose children and family were the center of her world. She instilled in them the values of kindness, resilience, hard work, and compassion. She is survived by her son, Harold A. Prescott Jr., and his wife, Anna, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and her son, Wayne Bell Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Heidi E. Prescott Love, and son-in-law, Philip Love, both of Benton, Arkansas; her husbands, Harold Prescott and Benny Bell; her parents, August and Mary Mueller; and all of her siblings: Lona, Elsie, Anita, Glady, and Paul.
A faithful and active member of Vilonia Methodist Church, Eleanor found great purpose and community through her faith. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether through volunteering, supporting disaster relief efforts, or simply offering encouragement and a listening ear to those in need. She frequently volunteered with UMCOR and local disaster relief ministries, embodying a life of quiet service and generosity.
Eleanor found joy in traveling and held a special interest in Germany, the homeland of her parents and two of her siblings. She loved gardening and took pride in her farm, where she lovingly cared for horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, and many other animals throughout her life. Her beloved dogs, Buster and Benson, survive her and will deeply miss her loving presence.
Eleanor’s life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, service, and devotion to others. She was a dedicated mother, loyal friend, compassionate neighbor, and generous soul whose impact will continue to be felt for generations. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she served, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
A memorial Service for Eleanor and Benny will be held June 6, 2026 at Vilonia United Methodist Church, 1112 Main Street, Vilonia, AR 72173. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Vilonia Methodist Church or UMCOR, ensuring that Eleanor’s spirit of compassion and service continues to bless the communities she loved so dearly.
