Eleanor Williams Krueger's Obituary
Eleanor Williams Krueger, age 83, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away January 27, 2014 at her home in Butterfield Trail Village. She was born on February 16, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Eleanor grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, Dallas, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended Classen High School in Oklahoma City. She attended San Antonio Jr. College in San Antonio, Texas where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sorority. She married Richard Williams September 26, 1950 and from that union had four daughters.
Eleanor met and subsequently married Stanly Krueger of Fayetteville on April 5, 1986, who brought great joy into her life during their 25-year marriage.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Northwest Arkansas Doll Club, and Rural Builder’s association. She enjoyed drawing, painting, gardening and doll collecting.
Eleanor nurtured an early childhood interest in dance that turned into a life-long career in owning and operating dance studios in Arizona, Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas including Eleanor Williams Children’s Dance and Gymnastics Center that Eleanor founded with her daughters and ran in Fayetteville for over 13 years before retiring in 1985.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Jacob Walter and Nettie Clara Gossett; her grandson Brad Harris; and her husband, Stanly Krueger.
Survivors include daughters Joy Prater and husband John of Harrison, Arkansas; Lynda Matthews of Springdale, Arkansas; Donna Meinecke and husband Jim of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Gina Hughes and husband Clayton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Matt Harris of Springdale, Arkansas; Allen Harris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Drew Matthews of Van Buren, Arkansas; Mark Matthews of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Leah Matthews of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Lauren Meinecke Coble of Tucson, Arizona; Parker Meinecke of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Kathleen Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cliff Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Carmen Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her stepchildren include David Krueger and wife Mary Ellen of Dallas, Texas; Dennis Krueger of Galveston, Texas; Stephen Krueger and wife Hiromi, also of Dallas; Char Lupke of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Christine Krueger and husband Michael Walden of Manhattan Beach, California.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Son’s Chapel Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel. Officiating will be The Rev. Lowell Grisham and The Rev. Suzanne Stoner.
