Elizabeth Lynn Couch's Obituary
Elizabeth Lynn Couch, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 2, 2019. She was born on August 17, 1953, in Eureka, California to Herbert Lionel Lopshire and Vivian Josephine (Mathews) Lopshire.
During her life Lynn lived in Texas, Arizona, California, and finally back to Arkansas where she moved in 2004 to be closer to her father. Her passion was her family first, then animals from her beloved Bison buffalo “Cochise” to the many horses, cats, chickens, turkeys and other barnyard animals; and ultimately the many dogs she loved and cared for. Throughout her life she road miles of trails on horseback through the California mountains, at her family cattle ranch, and at her Grandma and Grandpa Lopshire’s ranch in Hindsville, Arkansas. Her free spirit wasn’t just limited to the United States. She was also able to travel Europe while stationed in Germany with her son Erich and husband Troy; who was in the Army at the time. One of her great adventures took her to Australia with her sister Peggy; as well as making many other lifetime memories with her sisters traveling throughout the United States. Everywhere she went Lynn made friends that turned in to extended family. Even in her successful professional life people gravitated towards her confidence and fairness. She simply had the kind of spirit that inspired others to enjoy life, smile, and create self-purpose.
She is survived by her father and step mother, Herbert and Lena Lopshire of Hindsville, Arkansas; two sons, Erich Grigg of Dixon, California, and John “Jake” Couch and wife Megan of Burnet, Texas; four grandchildren; Gavin and Melody Couch, and Troy and Piper Grigg; as well as four sisters Dolly Headley of Springdale, Kathy Bolinger of Huntsville, Peggy Womack and Gerry Lacy both of Castro Valley, California. She was also blessed with an extended family including sisters Rena Lewis of Hindsville, Linda Jones of Springdale, David Smallwood of Alamo, Nevada, and Kenneth Sloan of Houston, Texas, Norris Lopshire of Hindsville; as well as her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other close family members; including her dogs Jack and Max.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday- June 9th at 2 pm, at the Colbaugh Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church in Hindsville, AR. She will later be interred at the Lopshire Family Cemetery on a hill overlooking the lush green landscape of her youth.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to:
Good Shepherd Humane Society in Eureka Springs, Arkansas where Lynn lovingly adopted two of her dog companions. www.goodshepherd-HS.org.
Flowers are beautiful while they last; but Lynn’s spirit will forever live with the many homeless animals who are given new life and love.
