Ellen M. Shively's Obituary
Mrs. Ellen M. Shively, 84 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in Fayetteville after a two year fight with cancer. She was born February 4, 1923 in Clarion, Iowa to Lillian (Blue) and Howard C. King.
After graduation from Nebraska State College in Peru, NE she spent a few years working as a reporter on an Iowa newspaper and at a radio station in Kingsport, TN, before returning to the University of Nebraska where she received a Master Degree in English Literature. She was married in Lincoln, NE to James R. Shively.
After both had completed their graduate studies, they lived in Ada, OK and Mankato, MN where she was an instructor in the English department as a working wife. Upon retirement they moved to Bella Vista, AR where she was particularly active in the library and in St. Theodore Episcopal Church. In 1995 they moved to Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia King of Butterfield Trail Village, and Lucille Brei of New Ulm, MI, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, March 15, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.
