I am so mad at myself for not getting to know Uncle Elmer better than I did. We stopped in to see them this summer, and were so glad we did, and planned to do it a lot more often. And then he was gone. I am so glad we did that visit, and so sorry I didn't do more. Even though we didn't spend a lot of time together, I know he knew how I felt about him, and that was a tremendous respect and love. Uncle Elmer always managed to make me feel special.
I am angry, and I am sad, and I am taught a lesson.
I will miss him very much. I hope he knew that .

Uncle Dean, You were one of the sweetest persons I've known. I cry and i smile everytime I see your sweet face and cute smile. I loved your soft manner, your gentle life.
I know how much you loved your wife and your family and their love for you was in all their actions, in all their words. It was in their whole being.It was a very special relationship to see. One always hopes for that kind of love in their life. Know how much I loved you and how much I will be miss you.

Dad, I miss you so much...I miss the times of coming over after working all night and drinking a cup of coffee with you and mom and just talking...I am the man I am today because of you. You taught me the importance of being responsible, honest, caring, and trustworthy. You also instilled in me the importance of being a father and loving and providing for my children so that they can grow up in a better world and a better time than we did. I am so happy that you turned your life over to Christ, and that you will spend eternity in bliss and happiness with our Saviour. I look forward to the day when God calls me to join you and we can walk and talk and spend time together as a family again for eternity. I love you!

My mother told me and my children a story this week that will stick with me for the rest of my life.
One day a little boy drowned and went to heaven. His parents were devistated and blamed themselves for what had happened. For over a year Mom and Dad cried every night. In heaven the lord gave everyone a candle including the little boy so that they could all go on a walk every night and every time the little boy would go his candle would burn out. So one day the lord saw him sitting on a bench crying and he asked.. "Why aren't you going on the walk with us tonight?" The little boy said "because every time I go my Mom and Dad's tears cause my candle to burn out."
So even though I miss you Dad and hurt because you aren't here I won't burn your candle out. I will let it burn bright while you walk with the Lord every night.

This is in rememberance to my dear uncle: I will always be grateful that he was in my world and a part of my life and family. His slow and methodical gentleness always kept me in awe. The mannerisms in which he conducted himself continuosly left me with a distant smile. a laid back sense of humor and a quiet voice made for a wonderful memory. we spent but a few precious moments in our life together but I was given a lifetime of quiet smiles. My husband John and I will sit tomorrow together and make a toast to him, as he influenced us both in our own ways. I will and do miss you Uncle Elmer .
