Elton E. Duncan's Obituary
Elton E. Duncan, age 95, of Fayetteville died Tuesday January 31, 2012 in Fayetteville. He was born March 5, 1916 in Japton, Arkansas to Benjamin Franklin and Martha McChristian Duncan. He was a member of Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers. He worked at Moore’s Chapel for 16 years, ANL Medical Laboratories, Veterans Hospital for 16 years and was co-founder of Duncan Nurseries. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands, Okinawa, Hawaii, Iwo Jima and the Phillipines. He was honored with the Bronze Star for acts of bravery and merit. He was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Duncan, daughter; Diana Laningham and her husband Steve of Fayetteville, AR; son, Lindell Duncan and his wife Robin of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Georgia Logue of Salem, OR; four grandchildren, Hilary Bell, Krista Nicewarner, Mary Carter, Mitch Laningham; two great grandchildren, Liam Carter, Owen Bell and many others who affectionately knew him as Grandpa.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday February 3, 2012 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday at Center Street Church of Christ with burial at Buckner Cemetery in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
