Emma Banks was my 8th grade English teacher in 1969 in Ozark, AR. She was a good teacher and had just gotten out of college. I just found out about her passing today through the University of the Ozarks alumni Fall/Winter magazine.

I was a Farmington High School student of Ms. Banks'. I just learned of her passing. She made a mark on my life in the 1980s, and will never be forgotten.

Charles, I am so sorry I was not able to attend the service. I didn't know until today. There are others who would have been there had they known. I had called Emma a few weeks ago and had no idea she was not well. She is remembered by many of us who went to school with her. I am very sorry for your loss and also for our loss.

Truly an amazing woman who touched many lives, including my own. I will miss our conversations and activities but am comforted that she is looking down on us, continuing to have an impact on our lives. I will cherish my memories of her. She was a true friend and I will miss her dearly.

Emma was an amazing person full of spunk, intelligence, and compassion. She would speak for those who had nobody to help them, even at great personal cost to her. She came from humble beginnings but gave all that she had and could for others. May she enter into a well-deserved, peaceful rest.
