This Mother's Day, I've found myself reminiscing about the woman who taught me in my youth to appreciate discipline and structure, to take responsibility for my own actions, and to commit myself to my projects without making excuses. But for her influence in my life, I would not have become the person I am today.Much of this, I know, she learned from her own mother, who on delightful, random occasion would send her to school with brownies for our class. Evelyn was a sweetheart, lovely and bright and always asking how I was doing whenever she heard from me. I am saddened to learn she is no longer with us in body, but appreciative that she is no longer in pain. She lived long and well. Her contributions to this world were far-reaching and immeasurable. The world will not be the same without her, but it has certainly been bettered for having held her in its arms for the blink of an eternal eye. I offer my sincerest condolences and best wishes to her family as you all move forward, blessed with the memories and the lessons she imparted to you along the way.
