Forrest Gregory Garner's Obituary
Forrest Gregory Garner, 18 of Springdale, AR passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 in his home. He was born December 5, 1995 in Springdale, AR to Greg and Jennifer (Bonds) Garner.
Forrest was a member of the 2014 Senior Class at Springdale High School and would have received his diploma on May 17th. He was a member of the SHS Gear Hogs Robotics team, he was in the Art Club and won 1st place in the State PTA Reflections Art Contest. He was in the Illuminate Christian Club, a member of the PDQ Poker Club and a lifetime member of Goshen United Methodist Church. Forrest enjoyed bowling, boating, tubing, snow skiing, playing poker, playing chess, traveling, hanging out with his friends, and loved attending Camp Barnabas each summer.
Forrest was an avid Razorback fan and the family has requested everyone wear razorback gear to the funeral.
As a school assignment, Forrest once wrote about himself: “Just because I am non-verbal, I am not illiterate. I am not simple-minded, I am not unaware. I am intelligent. Just because I am in a wheelchair, I am not blind. I am not deaf. I am not without feeling. I am able to see how you react toward me and I can hear what you say.”
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Doris Bonds.
He is survived by his parents, Greg and Jennifer Garner, one brother, Glenn Garner, one sister Summer Garner both of the home, paternal grandparents, Larry and Gayle Garner of Hope, AR, maternal grandfather, Joe Bonds of Huntington, AR, his care giver, Kelli Vickers of Bentonville, AR, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22nd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Student Ministry Building at Central United Methodist Church 19 West Lafayette in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday April 23rd at Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Denni Palmer and Pastor Carl Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery.
