Frances Ann (Missy) Lee Brandon's Obituary
Mrs. Frances Ann (Missy) Lee Brandon, 82 of Springdale, AR passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2004 in Springdale after a seven year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Jonesboro, AR, June 30, 1922 to Shelly H. and Jessie (McCoy) Lee. She was Salutatorian of her high school graduating class at Mount St. Mary's Academy in Little Rock. She attended Little Rock Junior College (now the University of Arkansas Little Rock), then enrolled at the University of Arkansas where she graduated in 1943. While there she was a Razorback cheerleader and member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She taught journalism at St. Vincent Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana and was president of the Pink Lady volunteers at Schumpert Hospital while there. She volunteered in the Intensive Care Unit at Washington General Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Lee Goss and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William G. Brandon of Springdale, Arkansas, one son, William G. Brandon, Jr. and wife Judy, of Blytheville, Arkansas, three daughters, Shelley Pugh and husband Jim of West Memphis, Arkansas, Nancy Barry and husband Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Ann Porta of Johnson, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville where a memorial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday August 28, 2004.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2004 at the home of Ann Porta in Johnson, AR.
Her remains have been donated to the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Circle of Life Hospice 610 East Emma Springdale, Arkansas 72764.
