Frank Dalmut Jr.'s Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Frank Dalmut, a beloved husband, father, teacher, pastor, and servant of God, who went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on April 7, 1947, Frank was raised in a loving family on a farm, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and faith from his parents, Frank and Buna Mae. As he went through high school, he was greatly influenced by his history teacher, Dan Palmer. Mr. Palmer made history come alive in his classroom, and Frank set his own goal to become such a teacher to others.
Prior to pursuing his education, Frank enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned stateside to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. This led to a God-ordained encounter with Eleanor. Frank noticed her across a room and told his friend, Manuel Garcia, he was going to marry her. This began a courtship that resulted in a 55-year marriage.
The next chapter of Frank’s life involved earning a Bachelor of Science in Education as well as a Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas. He focused his God-given talents in the classroom, where he was in his element. Frank had his own colloquialisms that would bring laughter, and his retelling of historical events made them interesting, intriguing, and many times, entertaining. Frank sponsored Scott High Q teams and took his students on educational trips to Washington, D.C., enriching their understanding of history and the world around them. For over 25-years, Frank poured his heart into teaching, leaving an indelible mark on his students and colleagues alike.
Frank was a devoted husband to his wife, Eleanor, a committed brother to his sister, Mary Ann, and a loving father to his two children, Dena and Matt. He worked tirelessly to support his family, sacrificing for their well-being and teaching them the importance of hard work and faith. Frank was silly and serious, loving and strict, generous while having high expectations.
The Lord blessed his family with wonderful spouses for his children. Frank loved Dena’s husband, Tom, and Matt’s wife, Laura, as his own. These marriages brought the additional blessings of Ryan, Cole, and Ella McKnight, as well as Addy and Sam Dalmut. Frank loved them well and imparted faith in their lives.
Frank’s relationship with God became the cornerstone and driving purpose of his life. Although he was raised in church, it was as an adult that he truly experienced the transforming power of Christ. After giving his life to the Lord, Frank became committed to growing in his faith through Bible study, prayer, and service. His passion for sharing the gospel was demonstrated as he traveled as a spokesman for Gideons International, sharing God’s love wherever he went. He became an ordained minister while at University Baptist Church. Frank served as both an interim and full-time pastor at several area churches before accepting the position of full-time pastor at Zinnamon Church, where he served for over 10 years.
Frank’s legacy is one of service, kindness, and unwavering faith. He was never shy about sharing the message of Jesus Christ, whether by praying for a stranger or offering a word of encouragement to those in need. His life was a living testimony to the power of God’s love, and he would want all who knew him to understand that Jesus Christ is the key to eternal life. Frank’s family finds comfort in knowing that he is now with the Lord he served so faithfully.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” – John 11:25
