Frank Darley Wimer's Obituary
Frank Darley Wimer, aged 76, of Fayetteville, AR, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Born on November 4, 1947, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Frank Wimer and Lillian Litzenberg Wimer.
Frank's life was marked by adventurous pursuits and a commitment to education. After graduating from Tulare High School in 1965, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery, initially enrolling in electrical engineering school at South Dakota State University before following his passion for writing to San Francisco, California.
It was in San Francisco where Frank met the love of his life, Cindy Lenk, in 1972. They were married and welcomed their first son, Jakob, in 1973. From there, their family's journey took them to Hawaii and eventually back to South Dakota, where Frank obtained his education degree from Dakota State University in 1977.
Relocating to Savoy, Arkansas, in 1979, Frank began his career in education, teaching 4th grade at Farmington Elementary School. His dedication to teaching led him to become an elementary school principal in Greenland, Arkansas, before transitioning to work for the Arkansas State Department of Education in 2001.
Frank's retirement in 2009 allowed him to focus on his health and enjoy precious moments with his grandchildren. His legacy lives on through his loving wife, Cindy; sons, Jakob and Ira; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Frank will be remembered for his passion for education, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering love for his family.
