Franklin Dean McGaugh's Obituary
Franklin Dean McGaugh, age, 68, of West Fork passed away Wednesday July 28, 2021 in Fayetteville. He was born April 18, 1953 in Fayetteville the son of Warren Davis and Hester Marie Ogden McGaugh.
Frank loved his family, work, community and church. Recently, Frank worked part-time Napa Auto Parts and delighted in the team and its customers.
Frank worked at Tyson for 37 years. When asked to describe his job as a “can drive anything” truck driver, he said much of his job consisted of meeting, serving and befriending people in the community he loved.
In this job, Frank delivered 30-million gallons of propane gas to Madison and Washington County chicken and turkey farms, driving 1.2-thousand accident-free miles, receiving a diamond-encrusted ring for his safety record.
Frank was once a first responder. One related frequently told story was his finding a suicide victim in a cemetery near his home. When he phoned the sheriff’s office to report a body in the cemetery, the sheriff's response was: "There are lots of bodies in the cemetery." Frank clarified: "But this one is above ground.”
Frank enjoyed teasing others and telling jokes, uplifting people's spirits at work and at home. Frank also served as a fireman - in a widespread rural area, where he "saved a lot of chimneys” because firefighters, often having driven many miles, arrived too late to be of much help. Frank was a third-degree Mason, as his grandfather had been.
Frank was married to Josephine Meadors for 24 years, residing in West Fork on his third-generation family farm. Here., he enjoyed his private campground with family, raised calves, and brought back to life failed lawnmowers, generators, trucks and cars. Four sons include Robin, Marty, Billy Joe and Dennis Fields.
Before Josephine, Frank was married to Pricilla Johnson for 24 years. Their sons: Garren Mathew McGaugh of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Leslie Dean McGaugh of Elkins, Arkansas.
Predeceasing Frank ware: Hus parents, Hester Marie Ogden McGaugh, and Warren Davis McGaugh, Jr.; His sister, Margie Stonesifer; and his brother Hugh Chester McGaugh. He leaves brother Pleas David (Dave), Marble Falls, TX, and sister Mary Frost Distler, Bedminster, NJ. Surviving grandchildren include Mabree, Macy, and Maddox McGaugh, and Kyle and Casey Fields and great granddaughter Mckinzey Fields.
Frank died of long COVID-19, after battling it since December 2020. He wanted everyone to know how dangerous this virus is and how it destroyed his lungs, progressively scarring them, slowly smothering him over several months by depriving him of oxygen.
Frank was a devout Christian and a member of the Winslow Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Saturday July 31, 2021, at Moore’s Chapel with a private family service to be held following. Interment will be at Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
