Garland Laurin Wheeler's Obituary
Mr. Garland Laurin Wheeler, 62 of Fayetteville, AR died peacefully November 9, 2003 in Springdale. He was born January 9, 1941 in Alachua, FL to Garland and Mary (McLaurin) Wheeler.
He was an associate professor of Horticulture at the University of Arkansas for 22 years and a former peace core volunteer in Chile.
After his retirement he continued his interest in gardening, wildflowers and trekking in the woods. He gave his time to the Fayetteville international community and environmental causes.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Wheeler; his children, Kim Abel of Fayetteville and Kenneth Wheeler of Nashville, TN, his brother John Wheeler of Washington D.C., his sister, Lois Brummitt of Greensboro, N.C. and a large extended family.
Memorial services will be held Monday, November 17, 2003 at 10:00 AM in Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel in Fayetteville with Rev. John E. King officiating.
