Gene John Peranich's Obituary
Gene John Peranich, age 82, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on April 17, 2026, at his home. He was born on December 29, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to John Steven Peranich and Mayme Jane (Germek) Peranich.
Gene had a natural talent for electronics, beginning with ham radio in his teens and continuing for more than 40 years. He spent many years working at Amateur Electronic Supply in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later owned and operated American Camera and Camcorder Repair in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for 15 years.
A gifted musician, Gene played bass and keyboards in several bands and was also a singer-songwriter. Highlights of his musical career include three recordings that received radio airplay in Milwaukee—two with the band ‘Invasion’ (1967) and one with ‘Raw Meat’ (1969), which also gained national attention. In the early 1980s, he performed with ‘Red Hot Rider’ at Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds. Gene also had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed gardening, hiking, and kayaking.
He is survived by two children, Theresa Peranich and Dan Peranich; and one sibling, Gayl (Peranich) Lick.
