Dr.Mac was my Dr since I was in 1st grade. I just loved him. Later on in 1984 I worked at the clinic as Dr.Short’s nurse. I will miss him,his wit and sense of humor. He was always good to me and my entire family. Rest in Love Dr.Mac. Truly one of a kind.
As an RN at Rebsamen Memorial Hosp & later as Dr Mc's office nurse, I observed from up close, as he so lovingly served his patients with great care & compassion along with a sense of humor thrown in.... he made patients feel like they were family. I loved working for him & serving alongside of him.
Until we meet again,

Dr. Mc was a real prankster!!!!
The "Prank" of all pranks was back while we were stationed at LRAFB in the late 60s. My wife, Jackie, an RN, was quickly employed at Rebsamen Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville where she worked for a couple of years before going to work for Dr McCrary as his nurse. During that time, a deep bond of friendship developed between his family and ours. We sparred often over his beloved Razorbacks and my Texas Tech Red Raiders. Of course, the Razorbacks usually always won.
Our first child was to arrive in June 1970.... back in the days where husbands were not allowed in labor nor delivery. After hours of labor, I was summoned to the hospital and told to go to the waiting room. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous and excited. I found my seat in the waiting room some distance from the doors to delivery. It seemed like eternity, but in short order, the doors swung open, out walked Dr Mc carrying what I thought to be our baby neatly wrapped in a blanket. As he approached me, he appeared to stumble and dropped our precious bundle down on to the floor. My heart stopped, and out rolled a blown up Razorback Hog!!!! I was a mess, in shock and oblivious to the fact that the Rebsamen Hospital staff had gathered behind me and were a part of the prank at my expense. After a good laugh by all (except me), Dr Mc returned to delivery and brought our baby girl wrapped in a RAZORBACK blanket much to the delight of all spectators!!! At that point, I wasn't sure forgiveness would ever come, but it did. Forgiveness,Yes. Forgetting, NEVER!!! But, oh how we have loved Dr Mac & Mary Ann throughout these years! He will be greatly missed.

I have so many memories of Doc I don’t know just where to start. I can say this he was the best doctor my family could have ever ask for. Doc brought his horses over to my daddy’s house and let me ride one it was a beautiful memory. There are so many more, but I don’t know how to put them into words. All I know is he was a great man and he will be missed.
My deepest sympathy on the passing of Dr McCrary!
On my many walks/hikes with his daughter, Mary Lynn, I always enjoyed hearing stories from her of his life as a family physician and of his devotion and calling to medicine, to patients and to his family. The respect and admiration she described the community and family feeling for him was so palpable . It was clear from her stories that he was a healer, a leader, a pillar of strength and knowledge and a role model of what a physician and family man and Razorback fan should be !
Her stories made it clear to me how he loved his family so much and was so proud of them !
I recall sitting on the Mantooth’s porch, celebrating one of his granddaughters’ birthdays when they were younger. I recall I asked Dr McCrary some medical questions and I enjoyed listening to his medical stories and learning !
He always showed such enthusiasm when he spoke about medicine and you could feel his sincerity and caring. I was so impressed with his wisdom and experiences . He was an icon ! He touched so many lives ! He will never be forgotten!
He will be greatly missed and always remembered ! His life was a blessing !
I’m glad he is at peace now .
