George B. Rack Jr.'s Obituary
George B. Rack Jr., who everyone knows as Rick Rack, age 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29th, 2024 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born June 9th, 1943 to Juanita and George Rack in Cincinnati, Ohio where he lived a majority of his life.
George B. Rack Jr came into this world with such spirit, he quickly gained the nickname Rick Rack at a young age. Despite never excelling at school, his personality, passion and knack for numbers helped him succeed in his many careers. Many know Rick Rack for his stint as owner of Rick Rack’s Sport Shack in Amelia, OH. But he found his place in property development and building custom homes.
Rick Rack was generous with his time and support for the Special Olympics and later the Boys and Girls Club of Clermont County. He loved spending time with his family and friends, many times it was over a baseball game earlier in life or a round of golf later in life. If he wasn’t playing sports he was cheering on his favorite teams or spending time outdoors to beautify his home or play with the dogs.
If you have met Rick Rack, you will never forget him. He would walk into a room of strangers and leave everyone’s best friend. He was most likely the smallest guy in the room but you could never miss his compassion, enthusiasm and zest for life. Even in 2020 as he moved closer to his daughter in Fayetteville, AR while battling Alzheimer’s, it didn’t take long for everyone in the neighborhood to know Rick Rack.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Sarah Rack and her husband Jason Smith; grandchildren, Logan and Abigail Smith, all of Fayetteville, AR; and many other extended family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati at bgcgc.com.
There will be a mass in honor of Rick Rack on Monday October 7th at Saint Joseph Catholic Church at 10am (1722 N Starr Drive, Fayetteville, AR). A Celebration of Life will be hosted in Cincinnati, OH with details to follow.
