Georgia Parker Compton's Obituary
Georgia Parker Compton, age 77, passed away on June 17, 2026.
Georgia was born in Millington Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, to Richard and Mary Parker. As the daughter of a Navy serviceman, she moved frequently throughout her childhood, living in Chula Vista, California; Memphis, Tennessee; West Plains, Missouri; and Ford Island, Hawaii, before Hawaii became a state.
In 1962, her family settled in Bentonville, Arkansas, where Georgia graduated from Bentonville High School in 1966. She then attended the University of Arkansas, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Fashion Merchandising and later a Master's Degree in Home Economics and Elementary School Administration.
Georgia devoted her life to education. She served as an elementary school teacher for 31 years and as a principal for 7 years in Rogers Public Schools before retiring in 2010. Throughout her career, she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students, families, and fellow educators through her dedication, leadership, and love of learning.
She is survived by her son, Spencer Compton of Fayetteville; her daughter-in-law, Carrie Compton; and her four grandchildren, Bella, Parker, Molly, and Reid.
She is also survived by her two sisters, Paula Rakes of Centerton and Bonnie Yocum of Fayetteville; and her brother, Dale Parker of Panama City Beach, Florida.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. A private service for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Georgia will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her passion for education, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.
