My thoughts and prayers and with all your family. May God bless and comfort you.
I will always remember my Uncle Gerald. When I was a young girl, he took me around to see the chickens, let me ride on one of the horses, let me climb trees, brought out soda pop for us to drink in the shade in the front yard. I will miss him.
My mother's brother Gerald was an important part of my childhood. My time on the family farm with my grandparents and uncle Gerald remain as memories to be treasured. Not only was Gerald my uncle, he was my friend. It was through Gerald that I developed my life-long love of dogs, horses, and all things outdoors. On my frequent "stay overs" at the farm, Gerald saddled "Fox", a 14-hands high horse which had proved himself to be gentle with children, and left Fox grazing in the yard so I could ride around the farm after helping Grandmother with the household chores. I frequently rode Fox to the fields where my grandfather and Gerald were working, carrying jars of ice water and snacks for them. I also rode the horse to the pastures and brought in the cows at the end of the day before "helping" with the chores. Gerald gave me, my sisters, and cousins rides down to the old store at Goshen to buy sodas of our choice. He accompanied me and the rest of the family and children to movies, on walks around the farm, to auctions and sales, and wherever else he and we wanted to go. We talked about life, shared family stories, country lore, and many a watermelon. Thank you for being a wonderful uncle to me, my sisters, and our cousins. You will live on in my memories. Your loving niece, Vada Gay Binick
Thanks for all the wonderful memories from my childhood of riding in the back of your truck going to sale barns, yard sales, auctions, being taken for soda pop and getting to ride horses, with you walking with the reigns, going for walks around the farm, to the woods or checking on cows. Thank you for caring about me and my sisters and cousins. I will miss you so much. Your loving niece, Judy Culberson
