Gerald Poser's Obituary
Gerald Poser, 77, of Winslow, Arkansas died March 31, 2013, at North Hills Life Care and Rehab in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born March 23, 1936 to Gerald and Naomi (Borsch) Poser of O’Fallon, Illinois.
He was a retired tool and die maker. He was a member of the International Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union. As a young man, he raised hogs on his family’s farm near Carlyle, Illinois. He spent his summers working at Brown Shoe Company in Trenton, Illinois and Peerless Enamel in Belleville, Illinois. He attended Ranken Trade School in St. Louis, Missouri.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bow-fishing, and trap shooting. He shared many of those hunting and fishing trips with his lifelong friend, Alan Canterbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Rita Poser; one son, Brian (Rose) Poser of Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Julie (Terry) Lash of Moro, Illinois, and Lisa Poser, of Winslow, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Sara (Ben) Leisure and Linda Webb of O’Fallon, Illinois, one step-grandson, Jason Lash of Edwardsville, Illinois, and two step-granddaughters, Brooke (Jeremy) Wears of Havelock, North Carolina and Alicia Shelton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one great-granddaughter and six step-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Abernathy of New Douglas, IL; Patricia Smith of Mobile, Alabama; Joan Shannon of Smithton, IL.; and brother-in-law Walter (Geri) Abernathy, of Caseyville, IL.
At his request he was cremated and no services will be held.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
